Energy Solutions Professionals has signed on to a proposal submitted to Congressional leaders in support of federal appropriations of $22 billion over the next five years to retrofit critical public facilities. Under the proposal, public-private partnerships would be leveraged in order to spur more than $100 billion in upgrades to mission critical public facilities (e.g., hospitals, schools, military campuses, airports and municipal buildings) focused on improving their safety, energy efficiency, resilience and flexibility.
Additionally, the proposal would quickly put thousands of people back to work – primarily in construction, engineering and manufacturing – by giving businesses the confidence they need to invest and rehire. The energy efficiency sector has seen more than 400,000 jobs lost since the pandemic began.
