North Wood R-IV School District is a rural Pre-K through 8th grade district located in Salem, MO. The district comprises mulitple connected buildings so that all students can be served at a single location.
The District had a mixture of energy-saving needs and facility repairs that they wanted to address under a single project. ESP’s analysis found that the savings from some of the energy-saving improvements with faster paybacks could be leveraged to help pay for upgrades that required a larger investment.
ESP installed new LED lighting fixtures; sealed around doors, windows and roof/wall joints to reduce air infiltration; installed high efficiency heat pumps; setup a new building control system; repaired and replaced portions of the roof; and installed a new ADA compliant lift.
The new lighting, along with the high-efficiency heat pumps, have made the learning and teaching environment more comfortable throughout the District. Roof repairs were able to be addressed by leveraging savings from other measures, and the new ADA lift allows much greater accessibility to the gymnasium.
